Hurst Point Group has named Michael Bishop as managing director of its investment management division, comprising Hawksmoor Investment Management and Gore Browne Investment Management.
Bishop joined from WH Ireland plc, an AIM-listed business offering broking and wealth management services.
He was head of wealth management with responsibility for discretionary investment management and financial planning advice.
He has over 20 years’ experience in financial services sector and has held several senior roles in firms including Arthur Andersen, PWC, and UBS.
Bishop replaced Sarah Soar who has stepped down from the business after five years. Soar will work closely with Bishop to ensure an orderly transition.
Her tenure included guiding the investment business through the Covid pandemic, finalising the sale of Hawksmoor business to Hurst Point Group as well as integrating the Hawksmoor and Wellian businesses.
Soar was also responsible for bringing on board the Bath and Worcester investment teams and completing the acquisition of Gore Browne Investment Management.
Hurst Point Group CEO, Ian Gladman, thanked Soar for “her hard work and commitment to the business over the last five years”, adding: “I look forward to working closely with Michael in further developing our investment management business in the coming years.”

Hurst Point Group is a UK-based wealth management group backed by global investment firm Carlyle.
The group, which was created in late 2019 and headquartered in London, manages more than £10bn of clients assets.
It has acquired several wealth management businesses including Cedar Wealth, D Heaton, Gore Browne Investment Management, Hazlewood Investment Services, Hawksmoor Group, Helm Godfrey Holdings among others.
